Vitor is from Brasilia, Brazil. He started playing tennis at the age of 11, which is considered late if one wants to play competitive Junior tennis. However, he quickly got the hang of it, and with discipline and hard work he was able to become a top 5 player in the country at the age of 16. At the age of 17, Vitor won back to back National Championships Under 18 and started his professional career on the ATP tour.
Vitor had the opportunity to play against players who today are among the best in the world, such as American Jared Donaldson (former # 48 in the world), Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka (currently # 48 in the world), Colombian Juan Sebastian Cabal (former #1 in the world doubles, currently ranked #2, and two time Grand Slam champion), just to name a few.
